Early Symptoms - Diabetes

early symptoms diabetes can make you more tired than you should be

The early symptoms diabetes manifests explained simply and clearly for everyone. There are several symptoms that are very common. You want to know what to look for. It can prevent damage to your body.

Diabetes can affect almost every organ in the body. Since your blood flows throughout the body, the effects of high glucose can be seen everywhere. The most common places are the eyes, the nerves, the kidneys, your heart, the blood vessels, your skin and the liver and stomach.

The first signs of diabetes are similar to early symptoms diabetes shows. They include the following.

  • Do you make frequent trips to the bathroom? Urination becomes more frequent when there is too much glucose in the blood. The kidneys cannot filter the glucose; they become overwhelmed. Then your kidneys draw extra water out of the blood to dilute the glucose. This keeps your bladder full all the time.
  • Are you always thirsty? If it feels like you can’t get enough water and you are always thirsty, it could be a sign of diabetes. If your kidneys are pulling more water out of your blood, you will become dehydrated. You will want to drink more water or juice.
  • Do you constantly feel tired? If the glucose in the blood, from the food we eat, cannot get into the cells, you will feel tired. It will feel like you have no energy.
  • Do you feel tingling or numbness in your hands or feet? This symptom is called neuropathy. It occurs gradually over time. It is from consistently high glucose levels.
  • Is your vision sometimes blurry? This is one of the most common complaints of early diabetes. Blurry vision comes from changes in the lens of the eye because of glucose and its need for water from the blood. The lens changes shape irregularly causing blurry vision.
  • Is your skin itchy? Itchy skin is another sign of the dehydration that occurs when there is too much sugar in the blood. Also, yeast feeds on sugar. When blood sugar levels are high the yeast can feast on the sugar and create an uncomfortable situation for you, if you are a woman. ?
  • Have you lost weight without trying? Despite eating an excessive amount, you may notice that you are losing weight. This is an absolute sign that something is wrong. You should visit your doctor for a check-up.
  • Do you have cuts and/or bruises that take a long time to heal? This is another classic symptom of diabetes. See a doctor if you think there is a problem.

If you answered yes to three or more questions, you should visit your doctor for a blood test.

A blood test is the definitive way to diagnose diabetes. If you answered yes to two questions, you may be pre-diabetic. There is a pre-diabetes diet you can find elsewhere on this web site.

Complications

There are many things that can go wrong when you are diabetic.

  • Diabetes neuropathy is one of them. Because of high glucose levels in your blood, the tiny blood vessels in your toes and fingers become blocked with glucose. The cells at the tips of your toes and fingertips die. You feel numbness and tingling. The capillaries break down and cannot carry blood to these parts of your body.
  • Diabetic nephropathy is another complication. The capillaries in your kidneys break down and cells in your kidneys die. When the blood is loaded with sugar, the tiny blood vessels cannot work. They usually carry oxygen to all the cells in your body. When the capillaries are gone, so is the filtering system of the kidneys.
  • Diabetic retinopathy is a complication that affects you eyes. Your retina is at the back of your eyeball. It is where images are formed. Once again, if the capillaries are broken, you will have red streaks on the retina. Only your eye doctor can see the retina and tell you if you are in danger for blindness.
  • Diabetes hypertension is high blood pressure. Along with capillary damage comes compensation. Your heart has to work harder to get the blood to all parts of your body. High blood pressure is often a sign of diabetes. It is also an effect of too much sugar in the blood. You are at greater risk of heart disease and stroke. Heart attacks and strokes happen more frequently in people with diabetes.
